Lean Leadership - KTH Leancentrum

This course is taught in Swedish. The course alternates theory and practical exercises, based on the lecturers' experiences and the latest international research on lean, leadership and lean/agile leadership. A lot of focus is put on creating space for training and own reflection on these issues. Are you ready for the leadership of the future? How can you as a leader develop your ability to lead change and sustainable development? Leadership is crucial for an organisation's lean journey. What distinguishes lean leadership from other leadership? The course is based on four main themes: Developing and clarifying your operational leadership Coaching and developing employees Leading organisational change Working with vision and goals for long-term development Course objectives On completion of the mission training you should be able to: discuss and reason about models of Lean leadership related to leadership conditions and sustainability and how this affects your own leadership, analyse and evaluate where your own business/department is from a lean leadership perspective, explain the methods applied in lean leadership, suggest those that are appropriate for your own business/department's improvement work and use them, formulate a vision based on lean principles and concretise it in an action plan for the business. Course outline The course consists of 10 days, spread over 5 sessions. These include lectures, seminars, group discussions, study visits and practical exercises, including analysis of both your own leadership and your own business. You will receive homework assignments between the course sessions in order to deepen your knowledge of lean leadership. The assignments are based on your own and your organisation's work with leadership development. The course is conducted by KTH Leancentrum in Södertälje. The lecturers are researchers and practitioners from e.g. AstraZeneca, KTH, N4 and Saab Aeronautics. You will learn among other things: Lean, leadership and lean management How an organization can work to implement lean in a sustainable way Leadership and lean in relation to impacts, such as quality and health Leadership conditions Target group People in management positions (managers and improvement leaders), in both the private and public sectors, who have started their lean work. Lean Production - KTH Leancentrum

This course is taught in Swedish. Lean production consists of a set of principles and techniques, which are included in the business's systems and processes. These can be derived into a particular business philosophy and strategy that encompasses the entire organization's operations. The course lays the foundation for continued broader and deeper studies of how operations are run at the new generation of world-leading companies with a Lean business strategy. This starting course covers the following topics: Strategies and principles for Lean production Stable processes and standardized working methods Design of value streams Pulling and pushing production systems Quality philosophy and quality methodology Teamwork, commitment and participation Management system with PDCA methodology Business collaboration along value flows Transformation to a Lean corporate culture Course structure Five two-day meetings consisting of discussion lectures, practical exercises and analyzes of operations in companies that practice Lean methodology. Sustainability in practice - KTH Leancentrum

This course is taught in Swedish. For small and medium-sized businesses: learn how to develop a sustainable business and how to implement sustainability in your workplace. Do you want to learn how to use different methods to identify improvement potential for sustainability? Do you know how to smoothly integrate environmental improvement into your daily work? Do you want to learn tools to introduce new ways of working in your organisation and how to engage your employees? This practical course will give you knowledge on how to support your business to become more sustainable. Today we have less than seven years to meet the 1.5 degree target based on the carbon budget calculated by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. New technologies and new environmental investments are an important part of the societal transformation that is underway. It is equally important that we change the way we work and behave in our daily lives as well as in the workplace to reduce our environmental impact. Who can apply? The course is suitable for those in management positions who want to build and develop a sustainable business. For example, you may be a production manager, team leader, project manager, sustainability manager, environmental manager, or learning coordinator. Please note that the course is aimed at small and medium-sized businesses, with 10-249 employees, related to the automotive industry and the electrification transition. Course outline The course is structured around a running assignment and has four main themes: Identifying waste to avoid risk of harm to people and the environment. Use improvement methodology for environmental and resource efficiency improvements. Analyse and develop sustainable processes. Work on visions and goals for long-term sustainable development. Sustainable leadership with lean - KTH Leancentrum

This course is taught in Swedish. How are you a good leader in times of rapid change? And what can good leadership contribute? In this web-based course you will have the opportunity to work on these questions, discuss them and be inspired. What will you know after the course and what difference can the knowledge make to your organisation? Understand and reason about Lean leadership models Describe how leadership, improvement and sustainability interact and influence the success of organisations and leaders Translate models and methods to your own situation and business, and be able to concretise these in an action plan Course outline The course is web-based (Zoom) and we meet 12 times of 2 hours each. The examination is 3 hours. The lecturers are both researchers and practitioners, partly from KTH and partly from the private sector. We think that dialogue is important during both lectures and group work. The meetings normally also include a presentation of the assignment from the previous session. Great importance is attached to dialogue during both lectures and group work, including those linked to homework assignments. The book LedarStegen by Bengt Savén (ISBN: 9789187817434) is used to link theory parts and exercises. Course literature is paid for by the participant. The course is examined with a diploma through a report and oral presentation. Attendance is required for at least 9 out of 12 sessions. Maximum number of participants is 20. Target group Those in a managerial position (managers, project and improvement leaders), in both the private and public sectors.
