University West

Work Integrated Learning (WIL) is University West’s overarching profile and basic principle applied to learning, the exchange of ideas, and educational development. The government has assigned the distinguished task of developing WIL to University West. Work integrated learning in education and research develops new, relevant and advanced knowledge both within the academy and among its partners, which also benefits society in general. University West offers a wide variety of study programs, has a good number of applicants and our students show a high entry rate on the labor market. The main research fields at University West are work integrated learning, educational science and production technology and is conducted in collaboration with the surrounding society. Our campus is centrally located in Trollhättan with more than 11 000 students and about 600 employees.


Additiv tillverkning - Reparation,

Kursen fokuserar på reparationsmetoder baserade på pulverbeläggning med laserteknik eller termisk sprutning. I kursen analyserar vi olika metoders tillverknings- och affärsmässiga aspekter. Vi diskuterar materialkarakterisering, kvalitet och struktur för de pålagda reparationsskikten och reflekterar kring olika metoder för inspektion och kvalitetskontroll av de reparerade produkterna. Kursen vänder sig till dig som har en grundläggande förståelse för additiv tillverkning (AM) och vill fördjupa dig inom reparationsmöjligheter med AM.

AI baserad kvalitetsstyrning och kontroll

The course provides an overview of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and how it can be applied in quality control applications. We cover the theoretical background but will focus mainly on practical applications of the concept. The aim is to provide a vision and basic knowledge of the covered topics for a target audience with no or few prior knowledge in the AI field. It will be discussed how quick and continuous process adjustments based on AI-based quality control systems can improve production.

Avancerade tillverkningsprocesser

Recent developments in manufacturing techniques are providing extraordinary benefits such as unique joint properties, synergistic mix of materials, component cost reduction, increased productivity and improved quality, the ability to manufacture complex geometrical configurations, and reliable assessment of the suitability of novel materials for the manufacture of new sustainable industrial products. The course aims to assist industrial personnel update their knowledge and widen their understanding of various aspects of new/advanced industrial manufacturing processes. The course delivers a general overview of the utilization of advanced manufacturing methods for production and quality management. The course is mainly delivered via distance learning in flexible, net-based form with one or two physical meetings. On-line lectures are combined with supervision and reporting meetings using web-based meeting systems. Some course meetings are compulsory.

Hållbar automation

The products we all produce or use and the services we provide or benefit from are getting increasingly automated processes from the factory to the home. However, what we usually miss are the societal, environmental, and economic impacts of automation and how it can affect goals related to sustainable development. Where lies the balance between an automated world and a sustainable one? The aim of the Sustainable Automation course is to therefore to develop understanding, vision, and knowledge of the sustainability features and elements in each automation project. It also introduces how an automation project should be carried out considering the sustainability features from planning to implementation.

Industrins digitalisering - cyber security

I dagens samhälle där digitaliseringen utvecklas med stormsteg i form av big data, cloud computing och internet of things, ökar också fokuset på cybersäkerhet. Den största problematiken för cybersäkerhet är den ständiga och framför allt snabba utvecklingen av nya enheter som skall kunna kommunicera med varandra från vart som helst när som helst. Med bakgrund i dessa ständiga förändringar har cybersäkerhet ett proaktivt och adaptivt förhållningssätt, genom kontinuerlig övervakning och realtidsbedömningar. Kärnan av cybersäkerhet består av metoder för analys och klassificering av datakommunikation för att kunna identifiera samt motverka attacker i realtid. Kursen utgår från cybersäkerhetsanalytikerns olika roller ur ett industriellt perspektiv. Vidare ingår att kunna analysera olika typer av datakommunikation. Med hjälp av olika typer av monitoreringsverktyg kunna identifiera olika typer av cyberattacker, samt tillämpa olika metoder för att upptäcka samt stoppa pågående cybersäkerhetsattacker.
